  1. According to hindu society sons are the legal heirs of family property. But I think both son and daughter should get equal legal heirs of family property. Girls should get chance to study completely and stand on their foot to work and become independent successfully to lead the society. Men are caregivers but women also do very hard to get success to maintain the family. Practice of dowry should get stop as it is a burden on the parents.

    1. Early marriage is a very harmful practice that denies girl theirs right to make vital decisions about their sexual health. We live in the society where there is lot of differences from the rest of our country. In our Garo society, girls are permanent members of the family.

  2. As for some society in our country till today also they believe that girls are not equal to boys. They prefer that girls should be below boys and should not get any heirs in the families because they are not permanent members in the house ant should nt be given any proper education and should get married fast. All these kinds of beliefs should be stop fast, because now a days girls can do better than boys and have more strength to face what ever problems they face

  3. Daughters as well as sons should be legal heirs of family property.
Early marriage of girls and practise of dowry should be stopped because its hampers their health.
There should be no preference when it comes to sons and daughters.
There should be no restriction on physical mobility of girls provided they should be cautious about their whereabouts.Girls are permanent members of the family.

  4. According to some beliefs and practices sons are legal heirs of family property. Though it is an old custom of practice surely it needs to be modified and changed where daughters also should enjoy equal share of the family property. Early marriage is an obstacle/burden that prevent the girl to enjoy her right to study and to become independent of her own choices. Dowry is another problem that brings misunderstanding and looking down towards the poor family of the society. Therefore it should not be practiced. The family should thankfully and faithfully accept their children without a special intension of getting a boy or a girl because children are the blessing of God for the family.

  5. Some of these practices like child marriage, dowry systems etc have been abolished by our constitution and regarding to boys as an heirs of family it lies on social belief and traditional customs of the citizens, so I from my side I suggest that the parents should treat their children equally without impartiality for both boys and girls and every society should change this systems of practices

  6. In Hindu society sons are the legal heirs. I think in this modern world daughters should also get the chance to be the legal heirs as they were also daughters of the parents.Think is that girl child education must be encouraged to be in equal with the male.
Early marriage of the girl be should be avoided as it hampers the growth and development of the girl. Instead they should send yo school so that they could stand on their feet.

  7. To think that boys are more capable than girls or are stronger than girls...is the mindset that need to be changed once and for all. Still in many parts of our country we see privileged and preferences being given more to a son than to a daughter. A girl is supposed to be a home maker- a norm that has been passed through ancestry need to be changed now. Girls should be given equal opportunities like boys to excel in every fields of work. They must not be restrain or forbidden to take their own decisions be it personal or professional. If this happens ..then surely we can see a new dawn in the lives of each and every women in and around the world.

  10. Such kind of ideas require change because it created a different in the society and divide the society. We should know that all boys and girls are born equal in dignity and right. There should not be any discrimination for any individual on the basis of caste, colour, creed, place or position of birth, sex and Culture.

  11. Legal heirs to family property should be both sons and daughters as well as sons should be .
Early marriage of girls and practice of dowry should be stopped because its hampers their health.
There should be no preference when it comes to sons and daughters.
There should be no restriction on physical mobility of girls provided they should be cautious about their whereabouts.Girls are permanent members of the family.

  12. 1. Daughter should be given heirs of the family because both Boys and Girls are the same based on inteligence, courage etc. The only difference is Sex. Which is Biological after all they are the same.
2.Early marriage means stopping of opportunities for girls and they will be remain at home and spent times with their houshold chores and look after their children. So this practice of Early Marriage should be banned and strict action should be taken by the authority.
3.If chances were given to the girls right from their childhood there will be no doubt that girls will be the caretaker or nurturers.
4.Practice of Dowry is still prevalent in todays india socities, the negative impact of this practice is for the poorpeople or the ' have not' who cannot give or pay what is demanded from the boys side. . Which lead to suicide or force to suicide and torturing of women. So this practice should be completely band in anyforms.
5.This is totally wrong to prefer boys rather than girl.Parents should understand that both of them are the same and should be provided same opportunities like schooling, jobs, recreation etc etc.
6.Menstrual taboos are still prevalent in rural india where most of people are ignorant and illiterate and fully rely on superstitious and belief, but this can be overcome by awareness programme through different platforms.
6.Physical restriction here means that girls cannot enjoys as boys do in terms of physical activities. This is wrong, and need tobe change ,we should remember that girls too are humanbeings and need space and time for doing activities for their health and wellbeing.
7.The belief of Girls are non- permanent in the house arises because in indian socities once the girls get married she has to move out of her parental family, but this too need to change because no doubt she move to her inlaws house but that only because of the custom . . .but we should know that she was born and brought up in her parental house where she has and share experiences and should not be treated non- permanent members in the family.

  13. Both girls and boys have equal rights and legal hiers of family property.
Early marriages of girls leads to increase in population and decrease in their health.
Since both boys and girls are educated and are working in every field like taking major decisions in institutions and home too.
Dowry is a social evil which encourages criminal activities in the society so it should be abolished with special law and participation of society is highly required.
This is an old concept of preference given to son then daughter. They have equal rights to enjoy.
Now a days girls are educated in each and every field .when you educate a girl whole family and generations are educated but when you educate a boy you educate himself only.
Girls and boys should get equal opportunity so the all the old mytha can be eradicated early.

  14. In all the aspects given, a girl or a woman should be given equal rights and opportunities as females are not lesser than males. To make a better world females are to be a part of the various activities in life as given to man. Both male and female are children of God so equality is of utmost important.

  15. Sons have for long being considered legal heir of the family. However the amended Hindu Succession Act gives daughters equal rights to inherit ancestral property like sons.
Early marriage of girls impact the girl/girls education, health and psychological well-being.
The practice of dowry implies that a girl child is a severe economic liability on the parents and is the cause of female infanticide and a contributing factor to the practice of preference of sons over daughters.
The society's anti - female biases and the discrimination of girls and women are the causes of the problems faced by the girl child and the women - like ancient menstrual taboos, girls consider non permanent members of the family and restrictions in physical mobility of the girls, in addition to evils like practice of dowry, child marriages etc.
All these problems could be addressed if and when these biases of the society ends.

  16. In our male dominated societies females are often treated as second to men.. Even though we are living in the 21st century, the entire society is walking with the faith that sons are the torch bearers of the family. What an irony. I have seen my friends going through all those taboos for being a girl where she has certain rules to follow even at her own home. And her elder brother is free to do whatever he wants.. This shows why we are still left behind compared to other countries.. We are equal in every aspects of life.. Boys or girls when given an opportunity to excel they both will shine.. Just treat them equally. This will happen when we will change our thoughts about gender stereotypes.. As we dowry is still practise and even child marriage is still prevalent e in our country. The utmost need of the hour is to create an awareness among people and to educate them about it..

  19. 1. Sons are legal heirs of the family property:- this is not practice in our society, but somehow in our country there are societies still practicing or having this thought. So, we should change because both sons and daughters are human being, they should get the same. If son know this , he might think that (why should I work hard in my studies as I know I am legally get all the properties of my parents.?) Etc.
2.Early marriage of girls:- This practice should change, because it effect the health of a girl, as later it will effect to her children also. She might get abnormal child, because she is not mature enough to get married . Instead they should give her education until she is fit to marry someone she love. So that she know how to take care of her children and family etc.
3 Men are caregivers/nurturers:- this thought should be remove from our thinking, because we know women also capable to do so. Sometimes we found women are better than men.
4.practice of Dowry:-This practised should not practice as it is not suitable in modern society. Because this practice have a bad effect to the poor family who have daughters. And it is like selling a girls to someone etc.
5.preference of sons over daughters:- this idea should be change. Because this shows that we love them unequal. And it may lead to hatred.
    6. Menstrual taboos and myths:- this practice should be stop as it lead nowhere. But to nothing.
7.restriction o physical mobility of girls:- we should not restrict girls, because girls are also capable to do the things like boys can do. If we do so. I seem like we stop a girl to use her talent. Eg if a girl can play football very well, let her play and make use her talent.
8.girls are non- permanent members of the family:- this type of thinking should be thrown away. As it effect the human right. If a girl want to stay with her family, and don't want to get married. Let her do. If we force her to do so, it means we condemn her right to live. Etc.

  20. In our state there is not much gender discrimination as ours is a matriarchal society. But still there are many gender stereotypes prevailing in the state and also nation as a whole. Male child is more preferred with the primitive notion that it is them who can provide and protect for the family. In Hindu society, females still face many myths and taboos related to menstruation where they are considered "dirty". There are many more cultural backward gender stereotypes that need to be changed. This can only be achieved by awareness and and an open mind to accept criticism and change.

  30. Social norms are behavioral rules shared by people in a given society or groups constituting the society; they define what is considered "normal" and appropriate behaviour for members of that group or society. In fact they are even widely considered as 'culture and tradition'. Certain ideas and practices which were prevalent to the situations and conditions of the people at the point time and found suitable to the needs of the society were considered and enshrined as rigid rules to be followed by the society. However, it can also be noted that these social norms and practices are not universal. In fact there are cases of clashes/contradictions in aspects of certain practices being followed by different groups. Nevertheless, the point meant to be driven home, is that, despite the contradictions in following ways of life, different human societies and cultures flourishes if the 'family' which is a unit of the society bring changes in the practices mentioned in this NISHTHA ACTIVITY which are against the basic tenets of 'humanity' and detrimental towards gender sensitivity and equal treatment and rights of sexual orientation. Living in the modern world and especially in a 'democracy' and free thinking country like ours, it only augurs well for each unit of the society to bring a change in these gender inequalities for the betterment of its members in particular and also for the society and country in general.

  33. The listed social practices that create big differences between men and women in the society needs to change. Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go to achieve full equality of rights and opportunities between men and women. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to end the multiple forms of gender violence and secure equal access to quality education and health, economic resources and participation in political life for both women and girls and men and boys. It is also essential to achieve equal opportunities in access to employment and to positions of leadership and decision-making at all levels.

Many of these statements mentioned above are age old activities that have been followed by our people and it is only dragging us behind in the long run.
I think we should Emphasize on eradicating such activities by educating our young generation about the same and make them aware that such activities are nothing but a Curse to our society.
Such stereotype acts should not prevail in today's world and everyone should get what is HUMAN rather than discrimination in the name of Sex, Equality and so on.

  36. • It is a common practice in India that sons especially the eldest, are legal heirs of family property. This practice, I feel, is an injustice from the parents to their wards. There should be no discrimination in children regarding this matter. They were born from the same parents, shared their childhood together under the same roof and grew up together in prosperity or adversity. When they grow up and have to leave their ancestral home, it’s painful to see them leave empty handed just because of this unfair practice. This practice needs to be done away with.
    • The practice of early marriage of girls is prevalent in most states of India. This practice is a deprivation of girls’ right to education and right to enjoy adolescence. Young girls are caring for their children instead of going to school or enjoying themselves in games and sports. As young mothers they may be lacking in tasks like housekeeping, childcare, etc. Therefore, this evil practice must be abolished.
    • It is a well-known fact that women/mothers are usually caregivers/nurturers while men are bread earners. But in today’s world, this fact is changing; men can also be caregivers and nurturers and women bread earners. It all depends on mutual understanding and acceptance between the spouses.
    • The practice of dowry in India has resulted in indebtedness, shame and disgrace in the bride’s family. Being unable to pay the dowry as demanded by the groom’s family, the bride has to bear all the insults, ill-treatment inflicted by the in-laws to her and her family. Sometimes, this leads to suicide on the bride’s part. To avoid the headache of dowry, most families resort to female foeticide. Thus, more stringent laws should be passed to put a stop to this evil.
    • In the diverse cultures of India, it is seen that boys are preferred over daughters. Boys are seen as an asset or investment for the family, while girls, on the other hand are seen as liabilities. In the bid to make sure that every child conceived is a son, many families have had to resort to female foeticide which is illegal. The practice of female foeticide continues in spite of the most stringent laws that have been implemented. Acceptance, tolerance and a change of outlook could help alleviate the issue.
    • In India it is believed that menstruation is dirty and impure even though it is the natural part of the reproductive cycle. This has impacted greatly on girls’ and women’s emotional state, mentality, lifestyle and health. Girls and women who are still menstruating are subject to restrictions in their daily lives like not entering the Puja room, the kitchen etc. since they are believed to be unclean. In many cases, girls drop out of school when they begin menstruating. This is discrimination on a large-scale curtailing women’s freedom and subjecting them to shame and a sense of inequality. So, this perception on menstruation must be changed in order to bring gender equality in the society.
    • Restriction on girls’ physical mobility is another gender norm which is a structural barrier. Denied the liberty to move freely in public spaces, many girls are seen to drop out of school and resort to early marriage which negatively affect the girls’ health and well-being. We need a change in our outlook and allow girls and women to involve in social interactions beginning from the home and the school.
    • The Indian families follow the tradition that the sons are the permanent members of the family where as daughters move out to become permanent members of the in-law’s family. This brings alienation of the girls from their siblings and parents once they move out of their homes. Parents are conscious of the fact that their daughters will leave home and will not support them in old age. They pamper the sons while ignoring the needs of the daughters subjecting the daughters to emotional trauma and negativity. In this case, gender discrimination begins at home. We may not be able to undo this tradition but we can always treat our children equally.

  46. India is a vast country with a difference in cultures, relegions, belifes, thoughts and customary laws, till date societies especially Hindu they follow the old system practiced that the heridity of family properties should be given to their sons only. But according to my ideology all parents and society should change this myth, because all of our children are God's gift so we should treat them equal in every sphere of life.
Child marriage is an old practice in our country, this should be changed totally and imediately because it affect physicaly and mentally for the child, and it is against the universal laws,it is a high time for them to get education and develope body and mind and prepare their future lifefor better society.
In our modern world practice of dowry should be avoided and demolished , thousand of married women in India comitted suitcide espicially those who come from poor family background because they can not afford a huge amount demanded from husband family side. These practice is not acceptable in our modern society.
Preference of boys over daughters menstrual taboos and myths, restriction on physical mobility of girls and girls are not the parmanent members of the family are the thoughts and believe of the old generation. All these practices should be changed totally and accept the globalisation society that all women and men are equal in our families and in a society as a whole.

Ideas and practices that are required to change in terms of son are legal heirs of family property is that male or female must get all the rights equally and early marriage of girls should be stop as at Young age we should encourage them to attend school but not marriage practice.Dowry should be change as some family could not have effort to pay the dowry. We should also change the inequality among men or women instead treat them equally in all terms and give them equal opportunity and encourage them in everything they do in their life.

The following statements given in this activity needs to be changed. Why should only sons be the legal heirs of family property.I feel that both boys and girls should have equal share because they are from the same parents.Early marriage of girls should also be stopped as this would hinder a girl from going for higher education and as we see in most cases girls perform better than boys .If they marry early they lose their chance of having the opportunity for a career and as we see that in the present world it is difficult to depend only on the husband to provide for the family as everything is so expensive and it will be a burden for the man to give a decent life for his family.
Yes it's true that men should be the caretaker and nurturer but even the women should have a job inorder to support the husband as there will be less burden for him and in this way he will bea happier person and as a happier person he can make his family happy .

Early marriage of girls & dowry system should be abolished as these are social evils for girls as well as for family of the girls. Girls should have freedom on physical mobility & myths. About caregivers, women are playing a crucial role now a days. Some societies in our country still believes that boys are superior to girls, hence giving utmost importance to son's by giving legal heirs of family property , which is wrong , instead we should equally distribute it between them. Early marriages should be stopped, cos' it prevents the rights of a girl child to enjoy her right to education and to become independent in life. Yes men are caregivers but educated women also plays important roles in maintaining family livelihood. Practice of Dowry should be stopped , as it is a burden on Brides parents as well as on society. Menstrual taboos and myths shouldn't be practiced as well as there shouldn't be any restriction on physical mobility of a girl child. Lastly in our society girls are treated as non permanent members of a family, which needs to be corrected immediately and they should be allowed and gave equal rights and opportunities.

  66. 1)Although in most of the Indian family sons are the legal heirs of the family property but situation have changed and Supreme Court has already given the verdict that both son and daughter have the equal right to property. As they are born to the same parents so irrespective of sexual differentiation both of them should be treated equally
2)early marriage of girls is a punishable offence. Girl child like boys deserve the liberty to get education and to become someone in the society, so it's very important to change the narrow mindset of every parents
3)this is not true because in the present society many single mothers are also present who can provide good future to their children
4)I think taking and giving dowry is the biggest crime.if this will persist no one will think of having girl child and those who found practicing dowry should be sent to jail

5)both sons and daughters are equal. It depends on how the parents nurture the child. It's and old notion that only a male child can take care of the family but now a days girls are equally capable in taking the responsibilities of the family members
6)menstrution is a natural process taking place in female body.but this has become taboo in certain sections of the society which leads to low grade knowledge levels and understanding of puberty. Therefore it is the demand of the time to change this mindset and provide extra care to the girl child. Because if correct knowledge is not provided the primary care of the girl child will be neglected
7)Girls are very precious. Extra care Should be given While we nurture them. Right from the childhood days they should be taught about good touch and bad touch. Rectricting their mobility is not a solution but giving them proper awareness and knowledge Is of utmost importance because that time our daughters could make judgement what is good and bad for her
8)girls are also the permanent members of the family . It's just that Mindset should be changed. It does not mean that after marriage she Does not belong to that house but in fact after marriage her responsibilities doubles as she has to take care of both her parental house as well as her in laws house

But both of them have the right to study, live their lives freely,no dowry and regarding marriage they can chose to marry the one they love,we can't force them. But about the heirs mostly the last daughter of the family will get the heirs and also to look after their old parents. 78. Gender inequality has been a social issue in India for centuries. It is a known fact too, that discrimination starts from even before the girl child is born and sometimes she is killed as a foetus.
What is required is a concerted effort to sensitise the society in eradicating this issue of gender inequality. It is high time that every child is treated equally and given every opportunity required to grow to his/her full potential.
Education that helps create attitudinal shifts towards gender bias and activities to spread awareness.
Continuous efforts towards breaking myths and stereotypes around gender
Ensuring State accountability to implement various schemes, policies, laws, constitutional guarantees and international commitments
Institutionalising gender sensitive processes within various systems such as law and programmes
Encouraging community ownership in preventing violations based on gender discrimination

Infact these practises that brings inequality among boys and girls should be vanished from the society as not only boys are more powerful in the society but even girls also have their own power in their works.

  80. Taking into consideration the Hindu cultural and religious customs Males are held in higher respect than females due to the sole fact that they carry on the lineage or bloodline. Thus property are conferred exclusively to the men. However, times are changing and these barbaric and outdated practices should be altered in order to ensure true Gender Equality.

Women in the Hindu/Indian context are often regarded as a "liability". The older the women the larger a sum of dowry must be given and vice versa. Thus girls are married off at a younger age. Pre-colonial acts such as The Child Marriage Act of 1929 prohibits child marriage, it has undergone several amendments in 1940 and 1978.

The stereotypical notions of a man being a caregiver/ maintainer is very prevalent, however with the changing times women to are in a position to provide and sustain their families. In India however, only 22.7% of Indian women are part of the labour force, compared to 51.6% of men.

Travelling and movement is a basic human instinct and regardless of sex any human has the right to go wherever they choose. Basic human instinct cannot to curbed simply to due physical appearance and dimensions.

A home is its family. On no grounds must a woman be forced out simply because of the backward notion that "a girl is not a permanent member".

  84. . As per Indian law concerning Hindus is very clear that self-acquired intestate property of the decreased male/female. Today's Hindu is inherited by his/her sons and daughters in equal proportion along with survival spouse.
. Society as a whole since child marriages reinforces a cycle of poverty and perpetuates gender discrimination, illiteracy and and malnutrition as well as high infant and maternal mortality rates. It negatively influences children's right to education, health and protection.
. The proportion of male caregivers is rapidly increasing. Male caregivers of dementia experienced lower burden than female caregivers despite care recipients more sever disease.
. In the modern era, practice of giving or taking of dowry by either parties has stop/prohibited. There are variations on dowry prevelance based on geography and class.
.Gender inequality is all over the world, however the basic preference for a male child over a female child is deeply entrenched. Daughter's are considered to be burden and son to be lifelong support -- in both emotionally and financially.
. Menstruation is a phenomenon unique to girls. Taboos and myths that excluded women from many aspect of social cultural life.such taboos present in many societies impact on girls.

We should change the norms about gender inequality or else our country will not fully develop unless both girls and boys are equally supported to reach their full potential.Gender equality is important as it leads to a better racial equality, better legal protections, it reduces human trafficking and also it can lead to peace and a better life.

  90. Sons are legal heirs of family property. This is a custom practice by the Hindu society and it need to be changed. From my point of view I think both sons and daughter should get equal rights and share not only in property but in whatever the parents are doing for their children. Early marriage of girls in the olden days we see that girls are getting married at a very young age but I think that girls should get a chance to complete her studies and let her be independent . Men are caregiver or nurturers we see this only in the Hindu society. Why this is happening because girls once they get married they have to leave their parents house and stay with their in law so obviously men should be a caregiver as they have to stay with their parents. If girls are given a chance they can also be a caregiver. Practice of dowry should be stop because as we know due to dowry we can see that most women suicide or we can see some families treat or torture women not like their child but like servant or slave. Preference of sons over daughter this is totally wrong parents should understand that the same mother give birth to both the child so both sons and daughter should be get same preference and rights. Physical restriction here it means that girls cannot enjoy the same activities as boys do. But in today's world we can see that girls outshine more than boys. Girls are considered as a non permanent members in the house because once girls get married they leave their parents house but this also need to be change in our Indian society.

Although Indian laws against dowries have been in effect for decades, they have been largely criticised as being ineffective.. So we need to stop this dowry practice.

The challenge, of addressing the socio - cultural taboos and beliefs in menstruation is further compounded by the low girl's knowledge levels and understandings of puberty , mentruation, and reproductive health. Thus, we need to follow a strategic approach in combating these issues.

  104. Holding that daughters cannot be deprived of their right of equality, the Supreme Court Tuesday ruled that they will have equal coparcenary (joint heirship) rights in joint Hindu family property even if the father died before the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act, 2005.A three-judge bench of Justices Arun Mishra, S. Nazeer and M.R. Shah said the provisions contained in substituted Section 6 of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956 confer the status of coparcener on the daughter born before or after amendment in the same manner as a son with the same rights and liabilities.

    Key Highlights
Coparcener is a term used for a person who assumes a legal right in parental property by birth only.
The bench said, “the rights can be claimed by the daughter born earlier with effect from September 9, 2005 with savings as provided in Section 6(1) as to the disposition or alienation, partition or testamentary disposition which had taken place before December 20, 2004. Since the right in coparcenary is by birth, it is not necessary that father coparcener should be living as on September 9, 2005.”
The verdict makes it clear the amendment to the Hindu Succession Act, 1956 granting equal rights to daughters to inherit ancestral property would have retrospective effect.
The apex court said the appeals on the issue were pending before different High Courts and subordinate courts and the matters have already been delayed due to legal imbroglio caused by conflicting decisions.
“The daughters cannot be deprived of their right of equality conferred upon them by Section 6. Hence, we request that the pending matters be decided, as far as possible, within six months,” the bench said.
The apex court’s verdict came on the issue whether the amendment to the Hindu Succession Act, 1956 granting equal rights to daughters to inherit ancestral property would have retrospective effect.

  105. In hindu society more preference are given to boy child and they are legal heirs of family property. Girls are suppose to be at home helping her mother. But I feel there should not be any difference between son and daughter. Both they have equal rights since boys and girls are educated and capable of working in every field.

3.Men are believed to be independent and women to be dependent on her husband which is in accurate because most women are self reliance and are caregivers and nurturers to the family.

  109. According to these statements mentioned above , I feel that sons and daughters should be given equal legal heirs of family property. Also education plays a critical role in keeping girls safe from child marriage. To change the practice of dowry parents should educate their daughters and teach them to be independent and responsible. Parents should also have the perception that girls too are permanent members of the family as they also have the legal rights. Restricting girls mobility is not a solution but giving them proper awareness and knowledge is important so that they could make their own judgement what is good and bad for them.

    4) Dowry is a Social evil in the society. It caused unimaginable tortures and crimes towards women.
    5) Parents should not create biasness among sons and daughters. All are born equal and all share equal rights.
    6) Menstrual taboos and myths present in many societies impact on girls and women's emotional, mentally and lifestyle and most importantly health.
    7) Physical mobility of girls should be permitted.

As for girls, early marriage and dowry should be stop, they need to get proper education to prepare themselves for a bright future and to maintain their health to become a healthy mother. Women are the hidden pillars who support the family, so both men and women are the caregivers who nurture their children and there should be no preference of sons over daughters. Menstrual taboos, restriction on physical mobility of girls and girls are the non permanent members in the family are not acceptable. Such feelings and practices should be eredicated forever.

    2. Early marriage of girls:-
Early marriage should strictly prohibit as it hamper the health ang wellbeing of a girl.
    3. Men are caregivers/nuturers:- Women also are always capable like men if chances are given to them.
    4. Practice of Dowry:- Practice of Dowry is a social evil which encourage criminal activities which always lead to suicidal attempts and torturing of women in our society.
    5. Preference of sons over daughters:- This kind of thought and practice always lead to hatred. Both child are born from the same parents,so they should get equal love and equal rights.

  115. In most parts of our country, the social norms and practices mentioned above are still happening even when there are prohibitions. Those practices are reflections of neglecting the female gender as a child, a daughter, a woman and a mother or sister.
Regarding family property in some states, the daughters or sons are legal heirs of the family property.
Early marriage of girls is prohibited nowadays as per Child marriage act. It has to be completely abolish as it is still prevalent in some states. The girl can get married when she reach the right age. Regarding the menstrual taboos and myths, girls are considered as shame to society and unclean during menstruation. Some superstitious belief lead a girl to be secluded when she is having menstruation. This also has to stop. I think people have to get rid of their superstitious.
Nowadays, women are empowered with equal rights as men. A woman is capable of taking care of her family, apart from that she also have the capability to attend her job. Therefore, i think these practices needs to be prohibited. Every child belonging to any gender deserve the same respect, care and right to live.

  117. When society is built on inequality and discrimination, changes become necessary. The difficulty may lie in how the inequalities are framed as it may be imposed in the name of traditions and cultures. The fight against established systems which have been ingrained since time immemorial may prove to be a challenge, but it is a fight that is necessary for the betterment of the society. Gender stereotypes limits the depth of an individual and create certain labels that men and women need to cater to. It creates a violence against the authentic self. The inequalities, preferences or biases create a divide sprouting hostility and oppression, positioning power into certain groups. Such dominations are harmful as the ability to make decisions will be concentrated on the hands of the powerful few. It is important to be aware of the prejudices and to bring about changes when it is necessary, especially when it causes or brings about injustice.

  126. Sons are the legal heirs of the family property: this practice should be change because there should be no discrimination between a son and a daughter as they were born from the same parents so the property should be shared between the son and the daughter equally .
Early marriage of girls: this practice should be abolish or banned beacuse it deprived the right of girl to enjoy her childhood life and education young girls should spend their days in school to educate herself to become an independent women not in their in-law house and take care of the family and this also affect the health of the girls physically and mentally.
    Men are caregiver/nurturers:
Usually women are the caregiver and men is the one who earn in the family but in this new generation as women and men are treated equal so women can be the bread-earner and men can also be a caregiver or nuturers.
Practice of Dowry : this practice need to be change as it affect the poor family in which the girls are I'll treated when the family members cannot pay the Dowry as demanded form the boys family this leads to the physical and mental health of the girl
Preference of sons over daughter: as we have seen that sons are more preferred than the daughter this need to be change as parents they should accept their child equally whether it's a boy or a girl.

2.Early marriage of girls means stealing away thier opportunity in everything since they cannot go to school and cannot do the things that they Want
3.not only men are caregiver or nurturers if women are given the chance and opportunity they also can do it
4.In some part of India dowry is being practice dowry is really a bad thing to practice because it seems like we don't respect our daughters so during their marriage taking dowry from the bridegroom is like selling always our daughter so I truly condemn this practice.

  137. Some beliefs and practices sons are legal heirs of family property. Though it is an old custom now it has been modified and changed where daughters also should enjoy equal share of the family property. We should not think that the girls are non-permanent members of the family they are taking full care and support to the family..

  138. 1.Most of the Indian societies follow this age old tradition of legal heir as their son but now time has changed. According to the law even daufhters get their share of property. So people should stop following this rule and consider their daughter also as their legal heir.
    2. Early marriage or child marriage is still prevalant in many parts of India. As the legal age of marriage for girls is 18 years so strict action should be taken against those who break this rule. This destroys a girls carrier, her dreams and opportunities.
    3. Thinking of men as caregivers or nurturers should change. Because in today's world women are no less in competing with men. Theyare equally able to take care of themselves and their family. Women are now self-dependent, self-reliant, more capable and more empowered to become nurturers.
    4. Practice of dowry is still prevalant in many parts of India. This old age custom should be banned immediately and strict action should be taken against those who practice it. Dowry system leads to unstoppable demands or needs of the bride's in laws and when the bride's parents cannot fulfill their unending demands it leads to mental torture of the bride as well as her parents, domestic violence, murder, divorce or even bigger crimes.
    5. Sons are always preferred over daughters because people think that sons can take more care and responsibility than daughters and will look after the parents in their old age. This mentality is wrong. Daughters are no less in completing their responsibilities towards tgeir family or parents in particular. Infact, they are more capable and more caring than sons.
6.Menstrual taboos are still prevalent in rural India where most of people are ignorant and illiterate and fully rely on superstitious and belief, but this can be overcomed by awareness programme through different platforms. Bleeding aint wrong its a part of the body cycle. If they won't bleed they can't give birth to a new life. It is a blessing which men aint a part of. It is holy so women should not be considered as untouchables during their period.
7.Physical restriction here means that girls cannot enjoy as boys in terms of physical activities. This is wrong, and need to be changed, we should remember that girls too are human beings. Girls are strong enough and need space and time for doing activities for their health and well being.
8.The belief of girls as non- permanent in the house arises because in Indian socities once the girls get married she has to move out of her parental family and live with her husband and his family. This too need to change, though she moves to her in laws' house it is only because of the custom. We should remember that she was born and brought up in her parental house where she grew, learnt and shared experiences and should not be treated non- permanent members in the family.

Now a days girls are educated & workind every field like Rail Driver Lakra, an educated girl can educate her family to. So both girl and boy should get equal opportunity.

  160. Both boys and girls are equally important in the family ,both of them were born and raised by the same parents, they share the same family bond so their must be an equal share amongst them.Early marriage hampers the health of the girls especially, because she is still young to attain motherhood early marriage sometimes lead to depression where they took extreme steps when they can't handle the bad situation they face as they are still young.man and woman are caregiver and nurturer because both are needed in the family to support the family.dowry system is a bad practice with this practice it makes the parents to prefer male child than girls because with girl child they have to spend lots and lots to get them married which really worsen the financial situation of the family who are poor.girl are permanent members of the family though they have their own children to live with but their maternal or paternal family are the first family in their lives so this they are permanent members.

  161. In India, discriminatory attitudes towards the female sex have existed for generations and is still prevalent till today. Although the constitution grants equal rights to both men and women, however it is not so in reality. There still exists discrimination, bias and exploitation of treatment towards the female sex. Certain ideas and practices needs to be changed in order to bring about gender equality in our societies. Early marriage of girls should be stopped as it is detrimental to their health and cause psychological problems. The beliefs and practices that sons are legal heirs and men are caregivers should be broken as girls are equally entitled to family property as well as women can provide and care for their children effectively as men do. Dowry practice has increased violence against women. This social evil results in preference of sons over daughters and girls are considered non permanent members of the family. Thus it is essential to promote gender equality to make our societies safer and healthier.

    ReplyDelete
  162. 1)This practice should change because there should not be any gender discrimination. In a family sons and daughters should be treated as equal. Daughters also have the right to get property.
2)This practice should stop because a girl child is not fully matured physically, mentally, and emotionally for marriage.
3)This type of thinking should be removed from our mind because women are also capable of do so and sometimes they are better than men.
4)This practice is not good because it has bad effect to the girl's poor family.
5)This idea should be avoided because both sons and daughters are equally capable of doing everything. It is observed that sometimes the daughters are more capable than the sons.
6)This belief should stop because there is no logic behind these taboos and myths.
7)This practice should stop because girls should get equal opportunity to do their daily activities like boys.
8)This type of thinking should not take place. The girls should be given equal right in their parental house where they born and brought up along with their brothers.

Perhaps, Indian society suffered from many social evils in the beginning of modern or before or may in the present day also in some places in India like Dowry system, Child Marriage, and Sons legal heir of the family etc etc(mentioned above) but since the practice some reformers has been came out who were deeply influenced by the ideas and equality, humanism, rationalism of the western philosophers and started movement.
They were expected to live as mothers and wives only, though in these role they were show a great deal of respect and honour. So, here also we have to follow the same ideas and have to practice right things, Mahatma Gandhi told we the sons of God, that means we are all equal so why not we share the equal rights, opportunity, practice In particular matters or in particular issue, we need to avoid discrimination in any field, avoid harassment (avoid dowry system), share equal parent's property whether it's daughter or son.

We live in the society where there is lot of differences from the rest of our country .In our khasi system it is quite opposit girls are having more previllages than boys sometimes boys are the temporary members of the family so some things should be done to provide them oppturtunity to raise thei status

  169. There are some society in our country they believed that girls are not equal to boys and sons are legal heirs of family property.such kind of ideas require change and legal heirs of family property should be both sons and daughters. Early marriage of girls should stop. Girls also have the right to live freely, enjoy their life and to educate themselves. Women are always know as care givers but in today's world men also can be care givers or nurtures. The practice of dowry in Idia should stop. This practice put a burden to girls parents. There should not be any preference over sons or daughters.parents should treat them equally. Menstruation is a natural process that talking place in a female body.do menstrual taboos and myths should be banned as it affects the emotions of a girl. Girls must get equal treatment from their parents. There should not be any restriction on physical mobility of a girl. Most of the Indian society they never accept their daughter as a permanent member of their family. It is the time to change this , parents must love their daughters and accept them to be a permanent member of family.

    ReplyDelete
  170. There is no difference between sons and daughters because they are born from same biological parents. There should not be any partiality when it comes to distribution of wealth and property.
Early marriages of girls should be abolished keeping in mind the health consequences they will face in the future.
Men should no longer be treated as the sole bread earner because women can also be financially independent.
Dowry is a practice which robs people of their peace of mind. A girl's father tends to look at his daughter as a burden as long as she is not married because he has to pay for her dowry as well. This system needs to be stopped and abolished at the same time.
Daughters are at par with sons if equal amount of love and respect is given to them. There should not be a preference of sons over daughters.
Certain communities still consider menstruation as a taboo. However they should understand that this is a natural process and must not associate any myths or taboos to it.

From time immemorial, girls' physical mobility have always been restricted. They cannot go out at night, cannot come home late etc. It is high time that they should be treated equally with boys as girls also know how to take care of themselves.
The reason why girls are deprived of education is because they feel that they are non permanent members of the family. They feel that she is not going to contribute anything to the family. But in reality if a girl child is financially independent from the time she is staying with her parents, she will not have to depend entirely upon her husband.

  171. Both son and daughter should be treated equally and received equal heirs from the family. In all aspects of life girl should be given equal rights and opportunities as both male and female are children of God so equality is of utmost important. As there is a saying that if we educate a women she'll educate the whole family. This means that female too is not lesser than male. Both of them are equal and should be treated equally.

  172. Both boy and girl are equal rights for legal hiers of family wealth no discrimination. Childhood marriage, dowry should be stop.men and women are care givers.both boy and girl are permanent be member of thier family.

    ReplyDelete
  173. 1.Sons as well as daughters should be legal heirs of the family. Daughters should not feel neglected and unwanted. They are no different from men. Gender equality should be practiced and enforced.
2.Early marriages of girls is still practised in many parts of India even though the law forbids it.Girls are not a property .They have their rights. Engaging a girl to get married at a young age is the same as riping her off her legal rights. She has the right to expression and it is her choice when to get married. This crime section must be tacked carefully and urgently.
3.Men are branded as the caregivers Or the provider of the family. This belief or stereotype is completely wrong. In most households men are the bread earner of the family whereas women are confined to their kitchen. Just as we all say "women are equal to men",this practise condemns it. If women are equal to men then I think women should earn also. Men and women should work side by side to provide for the family.
4.though the practice of dowry has been abolished by the law, there are still some places in India that still practise it. In many cases, women (particularly from poor families) have committed suicide due to the problem of not being able to give her in laws what they demand. No women should ever be priced for her marriage.
5.it can be evidently seen that men are being preferred over women in India. Many infant daughters die or are being abandoned every day. Some are being sold off or tied into a marriage at a very young age. As compared to men in India, women are seen to be less educated and are malnourished. This act of giving men more superiority over women must be stopped. They must understand the fact that without women men won't exist.
6.it Is believed that women in their menstruating period are filthy and cannot enter a temple or come out of their room. This belief must not be practised because it'll only reflect how uneducated the society is. Menstruation is normal and no women should ever be ashame of buying pads or sanitary products in public places just because the society has some stereotypes about it.
    7. Just as boys can move freely or take up any sport they want, girls can do it too.
    8. After marriages, womdn are sent off to love with their husbands. hence they ate known as non permanent members of the family. but I personally think that that term 'non-permanent ' members is not right. It makes us feel like we're not wanted in our own house anymore. Women thought married is still a part of her family as she still bears her family's last name.

  175. I think both son and daughter should get equal legal heirs of family property. Girls should get chance to persue her studies to achieve her goal and stand on their foot to work and become independent successfully to lead the society. Men are responsible for many things but women also do very hard to get success to maintain the family. Practice of child marriages should be totally stopped and the practice of Dowry also should be stopped as it's a burden on the parents.

  176. I believe that both son and daughter should equally legal heirs of family property.
Early marriage of girls is illegal and should be stop.
Men and women should be equal care takers and nurturers.
Practice of dowry is a burden to parents who belong to the lower standard of the society.
All children are gift from God. Both are special so no preference should be taken.
Menstruation is a natural process, any taboos and myths attached to it should not be there.
Restrictions on physical mobility of girls is for their safety but too much is not good.
Depending on different culture girls are either permanent or non permanent members of the family

  177. Almost all of the above mentioned social norms and practices should be change because it shows partiality of sons while daughters are not equally treated in the family lineage So as both sons and daughters are the precious gift of God to parents that's why both should be treated equally. Some of these practices like dowry it affect the poor family especially those with many daughters ,early marriage it affect the physical and mental health of the mother and her children.

  178. sons are legal heirs of family property - This custom has to be change and I am seeing some hindus are overcoming from this customs and they are treating both sons and daughters equally in family property.

Early marriage of girls- As I can see with the passage of times such kind of thinking is no more in existence may be in some parts of India especially in rural areas such practices are still in trend, but what I believe is people must overcome from such evils practices.

    Mens are caregivers /nurturers-
Women have always been the majority of caregivers. Women are nurturers, often live longer than men, and often assume the caregiver role for their husbands or other elderly loved ones. But the truth is that many men are also caregivers these days.

Practice of dowry- In my opinion strict amendment must be there and the government must come up with that so that those who are in favour of dowry will get punished.

    Preference of sons over daughters-
Common wisdom is that the preference for sons is motivated by economic, religious, social and emotional desires and norms that favor males and make females less desirable: Parents expect sons—but not daughters—to provide financial and emotional care, especially in their old age; sons add to family wealth and property ...

    Menstrual taboos and myth-
People need to know that menstrual blood is not impure. Just like blood from any other part of the body, once out, this blood too starts decomposing and thus emanates an odor. During periods women are at greater risk of urinary tract infections due to dampness. we need to understand this is common in girls and accept it.

Restrictions on physical mobilities of girls-
In India, restrictions on girls’ liberty to move freely in public spaces contribute to school dropout and early marriage, and negatively affect girls’ health and wellbeing, from adolescence into adulthood. we must encourages them and allows them to move and teach them that they are no longer inferior to men.

Girls are non - permanent members of the family - Many hindus still believe that girls are not a permanent members of the family why because after marriage she will go to groom's family, but they need to change their thinking about girls and consider her as a permanent members of the family and lets allow her to visit home very often.

  181. Boys and girls should be legal heirs of the family property. Early marriage is a burden that prevent the girls to enjoy her right to study and choice.
