Lesson should be clear and explain them in a play way method especially in the primary level and also provide instruction, demonstrate concepts and build students knowledge and skills.
ReplyDeleteI always keep in mind to select a strategy on any particular topic on the basis of Appeal, Appropriateness, and Ability. These are three main factors to consider when choosing a topic. All three factors are related to one another, but by systematically focusing on each one, it will help address the strengths and weaknesses of a chosen topic.

ReplyDeleteBefore starting a new topic, I use the strategy of using stories to encourage visualization. Once the students have a brief idea of what I a trying to teach, I introduce the scientific definitions and concepts.
ReplyDeleteThe strategy I use to teach is through inquiry and technology. The students are asked questions about the topic and if possible, technology is used to introduce the topic. The students catch on the topic and makes it easier to teach.
ReplyDeleteFor the specific topic on the Environmental Studies subject, I think is, to choose a observational topic basis for basically enable the children experience a real life exposure to certain place where the related resources are abundantly available for study, observation, view and performance of some experimental works in live spot. In doing so, as I hope, students are arouse and excited to experience again and again that such a stimulating actions needed to the young learners in order to motivate them to explore further helping them to acquire more and complex skills and knowledge about what was intended to make learnt the students to make the all round development throughout their learnings.

ReplyDeleteEnvironmental Studies (EVS) at the primary stage envisages exposing children to the real situations in their surroundings to help them connect, be aware of, appreciate and be sensitized towards the prevailing environmental issues (natural, physical, social and cultural).So i would like to teach the students how to be aware with our surroundings .

ReplyDeleteSelecting a topic or theme for teaching- learning process is a difficult task considering the diversity of the students ranging from their backgrounds, their health, their learning ability and so on. But after considering all of these as a teacher i would use the following strategies:
ReplyDelete1. Fmiliarity/commonality - Topic can be chosen based on things which are the most common or familiar among the students. Like My family or plants or Food, etc. Students can already think and recollect their prior knowledge.
2. Availability - By availability i mean that we can select topics where the real resources related to the topic are easily available. For example if the topic is plants, the students can easily see, touch and even bring one to the classroom or be taken outside for experience.
3. Relevancy - Apart from being familiar and availability it is also very important to select topic that are relevant to the students and also to the current situation prevailing in the area. For example; topic of plants can be very relevant since there is the increasing activity of deforestation.
4. Assessable - We must see that the topic selected can be easily assesed by the teacher, the student and their peer as well.

Encourage student engagement in class. Inform students equally share the teaching and learning. Intervention by teachers to constantly provide platforms for student participation in constructing new knowledge. Empower them to learn in meaningful context.

ReplyDeleteIn the teaching about the topic on waste management, the basic statergy will be about waste prevention, recycling, reuse and recovery that would ease the burden on landfills, conserves natural resources and save energy. This help utilize resources more effectively and sustainably.
