Think about this Scenario: Ms. Lakshmi is a Class XI student. One day, during the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, she found that the tubelight was not working in her study room. Since she was doing the vocational course of Field Technician - Other Home Appliances, she could apply her learning and replace the tubelight. In your own words, write about your experience of a similar kind where you could utilize your vocational or life skills to help others.

ReplyDeleteOnce my friend needs to get her jaiñsem tobe embroidered for her 30 in an embroidery shop for her 30th birthday..but since it was Lockdown no shop is available...and luckily I was doing the vocational course of embroidery and I took her jaiñsem home and help her to get an embroidered jaiñsem
ReplyDeleteDuring this pendamic the students didn't get chance to go and attain the school due to totally shutdown of schools. This the Institutions set a new system of conducting exam to students as open book examination which gives them chances not to detain in the class. So my opinion was that this system of education is vocational or lifeskill to help others.

I remember when the church priest from another state came for the first time in our village and he wants to visits the people and they can understand only english and hindi languages where villagers knows only local language so I have to help themto translate what he said in english and translated into khasi.

ReplyDeleteI still remember and the scene was still clear in my mind when I got the chance to apply my skill regarding computer knowledge where I helped my cousin in his computer as he forgot how to find his study materials in his saved folder.Even if I have Little knowledge in computer but still I can help others through this skill I have.

The failure to address these issues can have substantial negative effects on the ability of such individuals to attain and maintain sobriety. Preliminary research indicates that the provision of vocational rehabilitation (VR) services can aid substance abusers not only in attaining competitive employment, but also in maintaining a substance free lifestyle. Despite this fact, early indications suggest that few substance abuse treatment facilities provide VR to clients. The present study assessed the use of VR services and the training and VR related credentials of clinical staff members in a nationally representative sample of 159 substance abuse treatment facilities. Results indicate that few of these substance abuse treatment facilities provide VR to their clients, have staff members equipped to provide such services, or actively refer clients to outside VR agencies. Given the extreme need for VR by persons with substance abuse concerns, these are issues that must be addressed by both substance abuse treatment and VR service providers

ReplyDeleteउस समय मैन अपने ज्ञान कौशल से अपने घर से (चुकी मैं पंचायत शिक्षक हु इसलिये मेरा घर पास में ही है।)पेंच कस मंगाई और मैने रेडियो की नट खोलीऔर गौर से देखी आखिर हुआ क्या है।
मने देखा दो टार अलग/अलग हो गया मने दोनो तार को जोर दी।देखा रेडियो बजने लगा सभी खुश हो गए ।

ReplyDeleteOne day while I was was cooking rice using Rice Cooker, suddenly the electricity went off , then I remembered that when this happens my father used to check out the cut-out, so I checked and found that it was lose, so I made it tight with the help of screwdriver and was working again.

ReplyDeleteRepairing electrical snags or electrical appliances requires the service of a licensed technician. However, in the place where I work there is no such facility. We have to hire technicians from somewhere when there is repairing of any electrical snag in our household or take our damaged electrical appliances to towns for repairing. Recently I visited my friends and found them trying to repair a room heater. They told me that they had been trying for two hours but still they could not fix it and also requested me to help them. I had no vocational course certificate of any sort but I can repair few electrical appliances when circumstances compel through my life skill experience. So, I opened the heater, checked the connections and the coil but everything was fine. Since we didn’t have a tester, I concluded that may be the wire was broken. Before I accepted defeat, I wanted to check if the plug was alright. On opening it, I found that the screws were tight, there was nothing wrong with them. I was sure that the wire must have broken somewhere and needed to be changed. I started to refit the plug when I noticed that the earthing wire (green) was mistakenly fixed in the place where the negative wire (black) was supposed to be and vice versa. Eureka!! I finally found the snag and fixed it and the heater worked. You should have heard how my friends grumbled over the two hours they had spent for nothing and wondered who the culprit was.

ReplyDeleteI had supw till my 8th standard when I was in school....so I learned a lot of vocational courses like stitching, knitting,fabric work....and these skills are now very helpful for me now whenever I want to do something of my own

ReplyDeleteSince childhood, I was interested in observing my father's work. That practice led to me fixing electrical fuses whenever the need arises and when there is no electrician available.l'm also able to change the fused bulbs n tube lights and change the gas cylinder confidently.

DeleteFrom the scenario we have learnt that Laxmi has her own experience and she don't need anyone to help her in fixing the tube light. Experience is an expensive lesson but learn only through experience.We learn by the process in which knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. Since childhood I have experienced a lot of things like fixing bulb,electrical appliances and many things.My experiences have taught me a lot and I'm happy with my learnings.

ReplyDeleteOnce my friend's shirt was torn and he need to attend a party. There was no time to go to the tailor since it was at night. He call me since I was taking vocational course on tailoring I could help him in the last moment and he was able to attend the party.

ReplyDeleteNo doubt, Covid -19 has brought many lessons for each one of us. It has adversely affected the very livelihood of millions of people. Nevertheless, it also brings with it some positive ends. Many people learned many novel ideas of survival skills, while many revitalize their previous knowledge of the same.
ReplyDeleteSince the inception of lockdown due to Covid -19 pandemic, inorder to generate extra income and to make good use of the lockdown period I applied the technique of small scale poultry the art of which I learned previously. I built a small coop in which I reared around 60 chickens which grew very well. By mid lockdown I was able to make a good sale of the healthy, hygienic well bred chickens. Out of the benefits from the sales I was able to help meet the needs of the family which has run out of business. What makes me more happy and satisfaction is that I was able to contribute some essential commodities to a newly wedded and needy couple who happened tobe migrant labourers. I take this as the positive side of negativity.
It was my friends son first birthday(1 years old) and she was about to dress him,she found that his pant is too long, luckily I could help her by sewing his pant short... skills which I learn while in school.

ReplyDeleteDuring the pandemic the shops were closed. My nieces and nephews clothing won't fit I had a vocational course and experience in knitting and stitching so I stitched a few of there shirts and frocks.

ReplyDeleteOnce in the house of my neighbor, the water tap was not functioning well.water was leaking from the tap. He called a boy who had Pre-Vocational Education experience in the sector- Building and construction and in the field of Basic Plumbing work. By applying his learning experience, the boy was able to replace the tap and the neighbor got relief from his problem.

ReplyDeleteUnder Samagra Shiksha government of India is promoting work experience from class 1 to class 12.There is pre vocational education and vocation education courses,so the student will be expose to various activities through their day to day teaching.This programme help children to achieve the knowledge and skills in the domain of self management occupational skills and process skills through the various activities.So I think Ms Lakshmi have learnt experience from school through vocational programme in her own knowledge.

ReplyDeleteThere is a time when my students school uniform get torn in the playground and in that time i use to stich their pants or blouse even though i do not get train in any courses in sewing but i got my teaching from my mom when i am still a teenage and from that time onwards i use to sew whenever i got any free time at home

ReplyDeleteDue to pandemic same as Lakshmi got the chance to use her skill in fitting the tubelight, I too got the opportunity to implement my skill in digging the pillars of our new house and taught my son how to do that work. It was a tough work I think for many as we need to use 100 % of our muscles.

ReplyDeleteOne thing schooling be missing as inculcating self driven reading in children. Teenagers often only pick up a book of it a part of a course or thing requires to read it as for an assignment. However reading is a huge part of adolescent development. They need to learn, to guide, their own reading choose books that they would like to read and then discuss ideas that they form while they read. It is advisable for parents to make sure that they encourage their teenagers to set aside to read everyday.

And learn to do other task to its from the experience from the society and neighbourhood as well.
ReplyDeleteAlmost each and every house we are using gas stove for cooking one day my neibour call me to change the emty cylinder and connect the new one .When i did that and on the regulator gas started to leak in full speed.I quickly off the regulator.When i check it properly i found small washer was missing from the neck of the cylinder from inside .I brought that rubber washer from my home placed it in that cylinder .After that i placed the regulator and on it .It was working fine.My neighbour became very happy.In this way i help my neighbour by using my skill.of experience.

ReplyDeleteIn this winter season I want to plant vegetables in the garden, and I remember through the pre-vocational education in the SUPW subject we have learnt how to select the healthy seeds before plantation. So, through this experience I can plant vegetables and very helpful for our family to get fresh and good vegetables from own garden.

ReplyDeleteMs. Lakshmi through her skills which she has achieved by studying her course, she is able to fix the tubelight in her study room. I believe each one of us can achieve the same once we pay attention to a particular thing which we see or learn. By studying it and learning it, we can also apply it to our basic life when needing it.
ReplyDeleteI am driving scooter for the last 30 years. Though I do not have vocational or technical training but I have some experience which help me to do some works by my self like fixing brake sole, gear cables, clutch cable etc. During the lock down period I helped one of my neighbour by fixing new gear cables in his scooter.

Each person has a talent or a skill which they have acquired and can be used at any time. At the start of the lockdown,me along with my family planted some vegetables in the garden which were then cook later.

ReplyDeleteOnce during the pandemic I helped my niece in teaching her how to make wealth out of waste as she had to submit by taking a snap and making a video of how to make that particular thing. I taught her to make a jewellery box out of newspaper and in this way it was very interesting and at the same time very helpful to her.

ReplyDeleteDuring school days we had a subject named SUPW where basic things like stitching, embroidery, carpentry, fixing of fuse, etc. where taught. So now I can easily repair fuses and minor electrical problems without waiting for the electrician.

ReplyDeleteBeing a mother and a teacher life skills is a part of our inner essential nature, so whenever the need arises whether to mend a dress at a last minute or help a child with their cuts, bruises and burn or fix a switch, or cook a meal for an amount of unexpected guests,all these, is what is expected from us, with no formal training or education, but skills that are being handed down from our parents, elders and teachers and that are still in us and gets better with experience .
