It is true that Environmental Studies or EVS is an integrated discipline. As the name itself suggest, we cannot survive without the environment. Now, the environment suggested here is not just the natural environment but the small surroundings we live in like our homes, families, neighbours, food, water, cultural elements, religion, institutions and so on with which we cannot do away with for if we are to stay alive. Therefore, we can see that it is integrated in every aspects of what we are and who we are as humans. For example: We all need friends be it in school or at home. Our immediate friends at home are our neighbours which we cannot live without so to say. As an individual or society we are here to celebrate the gift of life. In times of joy we laugh together and in times of sorrow we cry together and lend our shoulder and hands in such time. So EVS is very much an integrated discipline.
Environmental studies or Evs is an integrated disciplined as it connected individual to its surrounding. Such as human beings, animals, plants as we know that man depend food from animals and plants and plant depend food from water, sunlight and soil. All the three sharing air together.
Environmental Studies is an Integrated Discipline: Water:Water occupies a significant place in our lives .It sustain all lives and is also required for our day - to- day functioning.

An example of integrated environmental studies is its integration to mathematics through the theme water where the concept of estimating distance and measurement is integrated to environmental studies.
Environmental science/ studies is an integrated and interdisciplinary academic field as it integrates physical, biological, and information sciences (like zoology, botany etc.) Environmental studies incorporate more of the social sciences for understanding human relationships, perceptions and policies towards the environment.
Environmental Studies is an integrated discipline because it provides knowledge about our surroundings and the importance of it. It covers all the features of physical as well as biological environment. For, eg, Ecosystem- Ecosystem consist of biotic or living, parts, as well as abiotic factors, or non-living parts. Biotic parts include plants, animals, and other organisms. Abiotic factors include rocks, temperature, and humidity. Every factor in an ecosystem depends on every other factor, either directly or indirectly.
The multidisciplinary nature of Environmental Studies is imbibed in its definition that it is the study of the interaction of physical, chemical and biological components of human surroundings. To put it straight any action taken by human and and its effect on the surrounding and vice versa comes under the purview of Environmental Studies. Lemme give an example, air pollution is a grave issue threatening the existence of life on Earth. Sarkidaroy Suchiang.

ReplyDeleteIt is true that Environmental Studies or EVS is an integrated discipline. As the name itself suggest, we cannot survive without the environment. Now, the environment suggested here is not just the natural environment but the small surroundings we live in like our homes, families, neighbours, food, water, cultural elements, religion, institutions and so on with which we cannot do away with for if we are to stay alive.
