Different documents and policies have highlighted the importance of Multilingualism. As a teacher what are your views regarding multilingualism . Can we use this as a resource and a strategy?

Our country is a vast country and we have diverse languages and culture. So multilingualism is very important for us to use as a strategy to teach the students. The students must know the other languages too especially their mother tongue, Hindi, and English.

In the school cities where students comes from different places and speak differently according to their traditions or languages. So even if it is an English/Hindi/Khasi medium standard school using of different languages for particular needs is a must for easy understanding of the students.

ReplyDeleteThe language of a child in elementary education is a language used which is being familiar by a respective child. Therefore, the concerned languages are home languages, dialect, and mother tongue which visualizes multilingualism characteristics. In order to explain or make understand a particular child about some topics and concepts, we have to use this strategy of acceptable multi-languages in aspects of teaching and learning processes.

By learning different languages it enables many peoples to communicate easily with people of different regions especially for those people who are really interested in business activities. So I appreciate that multilingualism should be encouraged in schools and educational institutions.

Mutilingualism is the use of more than one language. Countries like India have many languages and one can find multilingual speakers in a typical Indian classroom. Students come equipped with their mother tongue/home language to school and learn the language of state/ school simultaneously or subsequently. They also learn a foreign language like English which in most Indian situation is assumed as a second language.

It means it can help one person understand what the other person is trying to communicate by saying words. It is more active and precise way of communicating. Children learns their mother language naturally. In school, they are taught second language and national language. English as we know is compulsory because it is an official language. Hindi is our national language, i think both are important. Therefore, three language system will be better to be incorporated in the education process as it will help the child to have the ability of expression in any language he/she desires to do so.

Multilingualism is good for us.
