Plenty of homes use water filtration systems these days, but how do they really work? This chemistry experiment explores how charcoal filters impurities from drinking water.
This will help children to learn and collect data because charcoal can remove molecules. The process is filled the first cup with 1/2 of water and add 8 drops of red food coloring then mixed it well. Now add 1/4 cup of the colored water into two bottles. To one bottle add two teaspoon of activated carbon and the other bottle is left with the colored water. Note the colored water with carbon added at the beginning the colored water doesn't change but after two three days the carbon added water was lighted. Whereas the colored water without carbon doesn't change. So children can note that charcoal can remove molecules from the water.

Through experiment/ project.
Asking children to purify water with charcoal.
