There were many experiences that I've faced and underwent during this pandemic. Looking after a family and household leads to a lot of emotional experiences as it was hard during this time. There were some scary times but I gradually learn to cope up with it knowing that everyone in the world is facing this and it will all pass one day. The best way to cope up with emotional experiences is to spend a lot of time with our family, and share our problems. The best way for me to cope up with this experience is not to think about it and thank God every day for everything and to wake up everyday knowing that there is a purpose for everything.

A lockdown of people has been used as an efficient public health measure to fight against the exponential spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and allows the health system to manage the number of patients. The aim of this study (clinicaltrials.gov NCT 0430818) was to evaluate the impact of both perceived stress aroused by Covid-19 and of emotions triggered by the lockdown situation on the individual experience of time. A large sample of the French population responded to a survey on their experience of the passage of time during the lockdown compared to before the lockdown. The perceived stress resulting from Covid-19 and stress at work and home were also assessed, as were the emotions felt. The results showed that people have experienced a slowing down of time during the lockdown. This time experience was not explained by the levels of perceived stress or anxiety, although these were considerable, but rather by the increase in boredom and sadness felt in the lockdown situation. The increased anger and fear of death only explained a small part of variance in the time judgment. The conscious experience of time therefore reflected the psychological difficulties experienced during lockdown and was not related to their perceived level of stress or anxiety.
ReplyDeleteDuring this time people's and students were scared and losing hope for future because of the pandemic but I think it's not the end there is still hope, but to cope this emotional experiences I was keeping myself safe and doing physical exercises for the well-being and I offer the same thoughts to others .

ReplyDeleteWhen the Government of Meghalaya declared a state lockdown because of a COVID-19, I was in a state of shock and I had a feeling of panic and uncertainty. In a way, I was happy because both my daughters who are studying outside the state, arrived home just before the lockdown. But I was in a state of panic when I thought about of how we were going to survive during the lockdown when all the shops were closed - from where we will get supplies, medicine, fuel etc. Thanks to the Government and the Local Authority who ensured continuous availability of fuel, supplies on a ration basis. There was no shortage of them at all.
ReplyDeleteThen there was a state of fear when I listened to the daily news of the COVID-19 situation of the state, how the number of infected people kept on increasing day by day. At all times I was angry at the people who took the matter lightly, like moving around places because they were bored of staying at home. I felt as if I would contact the disease if I dared venture out of home and I still am, even after taking full preventive measures.
In spite of the fact that the lockdown brought us a long holiday, I was not happy. I felt anxious about the well being of my students – how were they going to survive during the lockdown, since they are all from the interior where it was difficult for food supplies to reach to them in time, how were they going to cope with their studies since online classes is next to impossible because most of their parents do not have android phones and the network is unstable for those who have. I know that, if we promote them to the next class at the end of the year, we would be promoting a bunch of learners who have learnt nothing. It will a tough time for them and for us to cope with the teaching-learning process in the next stage. Somehow, we tried to deliver lessons through worksheets and consultation classes but I fear that this is not enough.
During self-isolation, expect to go through many different emotional stages. Everyone experiences all of these at some point but not necessarily in the same order.
ReplyDeleteOptimism: This is going to be great. I can finally get to all the side-projects I've been wanting to work on, or improve a certain skill, pick up that hobby.
Determination: When you can feel that you're less positive about self-isolation, but you're determined to keep going and stick to your routine and have a schedule to help you manage the situation.
Satisfaction and frustration: You'll experience times when you're more productive, and times that you're less productive, and alternate between moments of satisfaction and periods of frustration.
Depression: When you start struggling and feeling, "this is hard". Boredom might settle in. Your routine or lack of routine might not be working for you anymore. You might experience restlessness that makes it difficult to concentrate. You miss going out and seeing friends and loved ones. You might feel demotivated, hopeless, or feel a sense of despair.
Anger: You might experience anger about the situation, the confinement, and get easily irritated by others in your household.
Acceptance: When you accept the situation for what it is and carry on doing whatever is in your control and letting go of what is not in your control.
Making meaning: Remembering that this move to self-isolate is necessary and that you're serving humanity and the greater good to help prevent more sickness and death.

ReplyDelete7 ways to deal with anger & frustration during COVID-19 pandemic
ReplyDeleteIf we can firstly become aware and recognize where we are at, we can then aim to accept how we feel and address it by releasing these feelings using healthy sustainable methods. We often may not realise we are dealing with anger and experience our emotions at an intensity which prohibits us from slowing down and becoming aware of where we are at. Once we learn how to acknowledge and express these feelings, things can get easier.
1. Be Gentle on yourself
2. Focus on what you can do ,not what you can not do .
